TBiB: MP Mecha Femmes Contest a Success!

After weeks of cramming with hints of frosting and other modeling mishaps, we can now say that the TBiB (The Bitch is Back) Mecha Femmes theme contest was another successful in-house competition for MP. And kudos to the new guys who joined the contest and share their time with us, nice to meet all of you in the flesh.  The judging was held at a Mechameet in Fort Desslok, and there were lots of cheap kits for sale, food, lots of laughter and perhaps some “friendly” bashing on the side.

The results are as follows:

1st Place yvanomech (Gadessa)—————94.7

2nd Place dr_feelgood (Throne Drei)———–87.3

3rd Place juggernaut (Tieren Taozi)————83.0

4th Place dincht_2 (Geara Doga)————— 80.0

Congratulations to the winners and to everyone who joined the contest. Thank you for participating in and supporting our event. If you’d like to see how some of the entries were built, please do go over to our WIP and Gallery threads.

We would also like to thank Bankee Trading, Inc. for always supporting Mechapinoy with its endeavors and projects.

Better start building your entries for our next competition!

Cholo Abenes: HGUC 1/144 Zaku Tank

Cholo Abenes puts a new twist to an old idea with his MS-06V-A Zaku Assault Tank Build, using different-scale kits. The build uses an HGUC Zaku II, a 1/48 Panzer III kit and some Armored Core weapons to create a custom version of the classic MS-06V Zaku Tank concept. He has more pictures in his Custom Shop thread. You can ask him more about build details there, too.

Ivan Fernandez: HGUC 1/144 Zaku “Dra-C”

We present to you Ivan Luke Fernandez’s HGUC 1/144 Zaku II F2 (or he used a Zaku II HGUC 1/144 kit, it seems) conversion to the famous MS-21C “Dra-C” environment-specific mobile suit. This build won this year’s “Zakuhin mo Mukha Mo” in-house contest (roughly translated as “Zaku In Your Face“). Ivan has a rather in-depth and extensive WIP thread, and he has also taken detailed shots of the build in his gallery thread.

There is an existing 1/100 conversion kit, but it is long out of production. Ivan’s work practically scratchbuilds a large percentage of the mecha – and in 1/144 scale.

Ronald Allan Zamora: 00 vs. Reborns

Ronald Allan Zamora is one of the master builders within Mechapinoy whose works are far more than the Gundams, delving as he has in Transformers toy customization, figure sculpting, line art and painting.

We always look forward to his works, given his skills. Here is his latest work, a paired gallery set: a 00-raiser and a Reborns Gundam. They’re both in the HG00 1/144 scale. You can see them in these two separate threads, here and here.

Enjoy!

Michael Jabile: HGUC 1/144 Geara Zulu

This build by Michael Jabile is from the new Gundam novel and anime series, Gundam Unicorn. The AMS-129 Geara Zulu kit is 1/144 in scale, under the HGUC series. Michael has decided to go for a more realistic and “Germanic military” approach (perfect emphasis, considering the design).

His forum thread is located here.

Jake de Guzman: HG 1/100 Master “Getter” Gundam

This is one of the more unusual builds in Mechapinoy, Jake de Guzman’s “Shin Getter Robo” custom build based from an HG 1/100 Master Gundam kit. Though not apparent, there were many proportion mods to make it look more like the MG version of the mecha.

This build became a winner in the Expert Category of Bakuc 2009 – Best Coloring. The original Gallery thread in the forum for this build can be found here.

Ed Tan: MG 1/100 Hyakushiki

This build is a blast from the past, a winner of our in-house contest back in December of 2005. Ed Tan, the builder, is also  a BAKAC winner from the same year. The base kit was the original MG 1/100 Hyakushiki, and Ed had to strip all the gold plating from the parts before he could start building. Without further ado, here is Ed Tan’s classic “Project Purple” 1/100 Hyakushiki.

Some of Ed’s work can be found in this thread in our forum.

*Do take note, at the time, we were still mechapinoy.net. Whoa.
